SCOPE OF AGRICULTURE

·        RESEARCH AND THE DEVELOPMENT SECTOR:

Agronomy, Plant Genetics, Soil Science, Entomology, Agricultural Economics, Agricultural Engineering, Agricultural Meteorology, Plant Pathology, Horticulture, Agricultural Extension, Biochemistry, Physiology, Microbiology, Computer Education and Animal Products  leads to a promising future.

·        JOB POSTS FOR GRADUATES:
Unlike the most of the other graduation programmes, a Bachelor degree in Agricultural studies provides a vast span of opportunities. Some of them are mentioned below:

Ø Research Officer: This supervisory job requires several years of experience. Running small research projects or working as a research officer assistant can add up to the work experience.

Ø Quality Assurance Officer : This includes a wide range of responsibilities according to the area of work. However, the basically involves determining, negotiating and agreeing on in-house quality procedures, standards and specifications, assessing customer requirements.

Ø Agriculture Officer: An agriculture officer is appointed one in every district, whose duties are to work upon every aspect of development and improvement in agriculture in that particular arena and making sure that the requirements of the farmers are met. Implement and manage operations plans and budgets.


Ø Agriculture Loan Officer: This job profile is associated to the banks. Also known as agricultural lenders, they help farmers and rural citizens obtain funds needed to fulfill  their operation to purchase properties and more.

Ø Production Manager: These managers oversee the development of drops, animals and other items. They may run more than one agricultural operation and typically specialize in crop, horticultural, livestock, dairy or poultry production.

Ø Operations Manager:  Operations manager is the one who reviews and directs operations to ensure production efficiency, quality, services and cost effective management of resources,  Manage overall day to day operations and supervision of unit managers and  meet production targets and strive to lower the cost of production.


Ø Farm Manager: This job profile includes: Accept, support, and promote the business farming strategies, goals and policies relevant to improvement in farming systems,  Assist in the preparation of annual operations plans and budgets, Assist in updating the production plan and report on a timely basis as to the key performance indicators.



·       PRIVATE SECTOR JOBS:
Talking about this sector, the jobs available are as Managers at Plantations, as Officers at Fertilizer Manufacturing firms, Agriculture Machinery Industries, Agricultural Products Marketing firms, Food processing units etc. Average starting salary is generally between 2-4.5 Lakh Rupees per year.

·        INDEPENDENT CONSULTANT:
Having an work experience in any of the above mentioned fields creates a new job interest – working as an independent consultant in various agricultural companies.
